Lena’s ancestors are from Stromboli a little-known island of Italy. Lena grew up in a traditional Italian family where she lived together with her parents, siblings, grandparents, and uncles. It was a dual language family where she learnt to speak Italian and respect others. After finishing High School, she asked her father about going to RMIT University to study Business. Being an Italian father, he was strict in his views but all in favour of obtaining an education so, he approved, and Lena then spent two years obtaining a business qualification.
She then went onto have a successful corporate, recruitment and executive search career. Her experience includes working for leading businesses Sportscraft Group of Companies, Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC) PB Oil, Financial Recruitment Group and Finance Executive Women (FEW). Lena was a senior executive with FEW a business focused on the positive progression of women through coaching and mentoring.
In 2018 she founded Lena Coates & Associates, her own career coaching, outplacement, and executive search business.
Lena is Vice-President of the Kastellorizian Association of Victoria and prior Committee Member of Cabrini Italians of Melbourne. She actively contributes to philanthropic and charitable works. She also provides “pro-bono” career guidance to those in less fortunate circumstances.
